This was my interesting weekend. My first time as as dad!

So how many hatched??

I has hatched, and one is still sitting in the open egg. The rest will probably need help. I will see what the situation is when I get home. They started hatching early on Saturday morning.

I would've cut them open yesterday morning already. 24 hours after the 1st one hatches is when you need to do the cutting thing.

I've had corns take 4 days to hatch from the time when the first baby pipped to the last. Then again, I left some rats for the same period, and opened up to find dead hatchlings.

I guess incubation temps, and where the eggs lay have a lot to do with the hatching time. It makes sense that a incubator kept at 28ºC with a clump off eggs always kept on the same spot will create a temperature gradient in the hatching box which allows certain eggs to develop quicker than others. Not much quicker, perhaps a few hours or perhaps days difference in development of the embrioys.

Hell, I don't know.. I'm speculating...

Now I'm confused and ready to leave the office now to cut eggs!

Denis also suggested that I leave them until at least this afternoon. I just don't want any babies to die because I was too late or too soon at cutting.

If there is harm in cutting, then I will do it.

I would suggest cutting the eggs. Don't pull the babies out or anything, but just make a small cut on the top of the egg and then leave them till this arvie. Just be careful.

Ok, they are all cut. I could see the snakes inside, but a lot more white stuff than anything else. I could not get any to move, but I don't think it means anything at this point. Even the small white egg may have something inside as it was also full of white stuff, but I could not see a snake, but was not going to start poking around too much.

No 2 was happy in the incubator's water, and quite difficult to catch. Fast little buggers!...

Try taking a blunt object and prodding them. If there's movement then you know they are still fine.
