I thought I would post some update photos of my house snakes and of my two new additions an Aurora and a Mole snake.

My female:

My Male:

Here is my two new snakes:
Mole snake I got her on 13 August:

Lastly my Aurora I got her on 4 September

The mole snake is feeding well on a large thawed rat a week, and the aurora feeds on live fuzzies I'm trying to get her on thawed as well.

I'm really not sure haven't measured her but I think about 120cm.

Nice snakes JKA. Its a pleasure to see such passion with our common indigenous snakes.

In the second last pic, are those craushed blue gum/eucalyptus leaves on the substrate (carpet?) It's look like bluegum seed capsules there too. I ask because I think the fumes would irritate the snake. You hardly ever find snakes in gum plantations.

Thanks for the info regarding the tree the leaves and capsules are from two different trees but I have taken them out, I Google'd the capsules looks like some sort of Eucalyptus.

I think indigenous is the way to go but not everyone thinks so, if you post something about corns everyone has something to say but post something about a house snake nobody is interested. This is just the feeling I'm getting.

I think that with most of the common snakes in the pet trade you get the indigenous version/counterpart so why go you and snow corn if you can get a house snake. This is with the exception of pythons and boas.

I'm pretty sure most people know how enthusiastic I am about our indigenous reptiles. It's one of the reason's I consider myself lucky to be South African!
My wish list for 2009 is like 20% Exotic & 80% Indigenous...

JKA, Awesome collection! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, & in my eyes, snakes like the Aurora beat any corn morph one could possibly consider having as a pet hands down!

Exotics or indigenous it doesn't matter. We need permits for all of them.

That Aurora is stunning. I just love the way that orange line breaks up that beautiful green.

I saw an "yellow phase" aurora it was really amazing, but nothing can beat a nicely coloured green.
