Gaboon Adder Pics

Postby Bushbaby » Wed Feb 01, 2006 9:06 am

I am so proud of my two little Gaboon Adders. Last night they each had a small weaned rat for the first time.

I also managed to find one fang in the cage. I'll take some photos of it once I have cleaned it up nicely.

Here's one of my babies. They still look small, but they are not that small anymore.

beautiful snakes bb! i was interested to see you keep them on towling (at least it looks like that in the pics?). Most of info i've read on husbandry seems to suggest that they should be kept in deep leaflitter and high humidity.

Anyway's yours look healthy enough :D

in your opinion is towling a good opiton? and what humidity do you maintain?

Thanks for posting the pics!

Feri, I am not sure. I'll ask BV.

Phish, no, I just put them on there for the pics.

I keep them on newspaper with moss and / or leave litter over it. It's easier to clean.

I have a large water dish in their enclosure which keeps the humidity nice and high. I replace the water and let them drink when I have replaced it, so they get nice fresh and cool water to drink.

Nice Elapid.

Yours kinda look like a cross between East and West African Gaboons.

Fantastic specimens mate! EA Gabbys are not that common in the the USA. We mostly get WA Gabbys here.

Cheers!
