Its illegal to keep any exotic chelonian in Gauteng, you will most definitley need a permit, and I suspect you definitely won't get it. They're also an invasive species

Its illegal to keep exotic chelonians in the Western Cape, not sure about the other provinces but as far as I know red-eared sliders are invasive so I don't think they are allowed in personal collections.

EDIT: Serpy beat me to it.

Try looking in your local spruit.... LOL..

Seriously... these are invasive species and ar not alowed to be kept. (correct me if i'm wrong).

I read in one of my reptile books that they have actually bred in our local ponds and spruits... They are only cute when they are small, but like any other terapin, they smell bad, and keeping a tank clean could be a hassle..

Harties snake park has a big population of these..

EDIT: Both you beat me to it!! LOL

You can get tortoises, turtles, chameleons and just about every other animal from crocodiles to guinea pigs from the faraday muti market all nicely dried and prepared for use as muti. On the odd occassion if you are lucky they even have live animals there and you can watch them slaughtering them. A couple weeks back I saw them hacking up around about 30 "tortors" with pangas for said muti. I assume they don't need a permit to do that though... :smt010

Spoon lets make a day whereby you can take me and a few friends on a tour of this Muti Market. We can even make a bike rally of it. I have enough bike enthusiasts who own reptiles and firearms to make quite an interesting day of it! I HATE these primate a$ holes who havent evolved! For Muti, I mean really. Hello, year 2000.

In a few months you will probably not be allowed to keep iguanas either.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Why won't you be allowed to keep Iguanas, cause I have a few and if that comes through I am kinda screwed.
