Info on Boomslang

Ive been looking for Boomslang for some time now . Sadly none yet . I spoke to a friend and according to him they dont do well in captivity without feeding on chameleons . He eaven went as far as to say that they will die after a few months as resalt of this . I dont personaly beleve this . Is there any truth in his statement ? Any help please :-?

He is right. I have a boomslang which only eats panther chameleons twice per week. Seriously, theres no truth in his gospel.

That is rubbish. There are a number of us that have kept this species alive and well and bred them without feeding them chameleons. There are numerous zoos and private individuals overseas that keep and also breed them and trust me they do not have the funding or inclination to feed them chameleons.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.

I feed them zebra finches.
As BV said, few people have the inclination to feed a chameleon to a Boomslang

I had a pair for 2 years that fed on mice no problem.i later went on to donating them to a crocodile farm!never had issues with feeding them at all!

They love mice and are very easy and rewarding to keep.

Mine didnt eat for 5 months, could get it to eat at all. Now he is eating hoppers :)

Good on you gino . Finally got a male yesterday lol . He is in the 1m range head about size of your thumb . Not that thick lets hope he takes rodents .

Great, mine is also around 1.2m. Very entertaining snake to watch, i have ordered a huge cage to display him in my lounge. 1.7m high by 600 by 600 with glass sides and a piece of my neighbors tree in :lol:
