Pinkie vs Crickets?

Postby MissAvic » Fri Oct 09, 2009 9:23 pm

Hey, I got a Psalmopoeus cambridgei(Trinidad Chevron) a while back, I noticed after a molt she has trouble putting the wheight back on...

Sooo, what I do is give her a pinkie mouse, and not feed her afterwards for quite a while... She seems to love the mice, but I think it's making her a "specialised" feeder,, which I dont like. I like feeding my darlings a variety. My other option is to rather feed her LOADS of crickets to put the wheight on. Not only can i feed her more often then, but she should start taking other goodies aswell.

I dont know what to do, since I dont want to flood her house with crickets.

URG!!

Pinkie mice should only be giving to large spiders on occasion. Insects should always make up the bulk of their diet. Try feeding hissing cockroaches if you want to build up her condition instead of mice.

Sometimes the aboreals like the cambridgei don't like to eat worms but I can't see why it would refuse roaches :-? I would keep on trying because pinkies are not a suitable staple for spiders!

As I guess your cambridgei is an adult female. Adults are eating more occasionally than juveniles and crickets is not a good feed. There are mices, frogs, lizards and Z. morio more approachs than crickets or some other small and fast insects. In wild nature adults will not purchase a small prey.

What?

So i shouldnt feed it mice? Nor should i feed it crickets? Starve her untill she takes roaches?

Whats the consequence of feeding pinkies, cause she's fine...

Maybe I have to stop advise with my "english"... I said that you MUST feed she mice. And you will try to feed small lizards or frogs. For example, my P. irminia eats up to three times between the molts. And she is fine. =)
Sorry, if I put you out with wrong spelling.

He he. Don't worry, now atleast understand what you ment.

I don't have frogs and lizzards available, so i think i should stick to pinkies then, i mean it's not like she would die.

Thank you Aluston.
