Newby from Centurion...

Postby Dazed » Tue Nov 02, 2010 12:30 pm

Hi there.

Well it's like this. For the past few days i have been browsing through forum's etc about snakes (particularly the corn snake seeing as it's a beautiful snake and a very suitable pet for a first timer). Weird thing is I have always had kind of a huge fear of snakes lol. I would feel like dying when I would come near one. But now for some reason I just have this huge urge to care for one. I read through on this forum and I think this will be the perfect place for advice and information regarding this. Trust me when I say that I am new to reptiles so I will need a lot of help as I really am a pet person and always try to look after my pets as good as I can. I am thinking about getting myself a Corn snake but I don't know if there is a breeder near Centurion and also someone that is good at building cages etc. So any advice and help would be awesome :D

Looking forward to hearing from you all :smt006

Welcome to a life long obsession and addiction to the reptile trade, if you are married.. good luck, if you have children make space for more reptiles, if you are a child youself inform your parents that you'll bleed them dry from all their money in the years to come... just kidding.

You'll definitley find all the info on this site.

Try to get in contact with chantelle, as they have a very extensive morphs of corn snakes for you.
As per cages, go look either on www.reptilecorner.co.za or www.reptilecity.co.za
Corn snakes are cute and nice for a beginner (if you do get bitten it`s a miracle).
If you need help, you can always ask me as well (I live in midrand, blue hills).
I`m not that big of an expert (but if I don`t know, we can always ask the forum members ^_^ )
And welcome, it is very addictive.
I`ve only been in the hobby for about a year now, and had over 25 snakes so far (sitting with 16 at the moment).

Welcome Dazed.
All the info you need can be found here, do a search or look under the Exotic fangless (harmless) snakes section and if you still not sure, ask away, I am sure you will quickly get everything you need.
Have fun!
