Nice photo's , that Philothamnus is so bronze compared to the ones down in KZN beautiful.

Makes me wish I didn't live in the city, I would love to have these amazing creatures on my door step.
My Dad grew up in Cullinan, nice little town granted I have not bin there in years.

Thanks guys, will post some more in a bit. Fooble that bush snake was found on a sparsely vegetated rocky outcrop, probably hunting transvaal thick toed geckos. All the others ive seen in the area of that size are emarald and blue, but found in thickets. Any chance that the colour morph is suited for individuals in rocky habitats? interesting anyway

I have never seen the Nucras that close to Pretoria. Nice pics. Yes the last one is a Cape skink.

Thanks bushviper and wolf77. I should add that they were all returned to where they were found, unharmed. Difficult in the case of the sandveld lizard with such awesome colours! Im relatively new to the area but it's the only one i've seen. I must also note that the Cape skinks are quite different in colour to specimens ive seen in the Southern parts of SA, being more grey than light brown

Hi Chris. Thanks for a very interesting post! That Philothamnus semivariegatus is really quite special - very different to the usual specimens.
