Intro & Piebald Ball Python Question

Intro & Piebald Ball Python Question

Postby sgmpanza5 » Mon Mar 17, 2014 3:13 pm

Hi All,

I've been in this forum for about a year now, shared my 2cents bit in a few threads but this is my first thread. Hope I get this right.

I've seen that Piebald Ball Pythons have differing shades or amounts of "white" on them i.e. low, medium and high. My question is whether the level of white is genetic or not. For example, if both parents have low levels of white, will the offspring also have low levels of white? Or is there no relationship at all?

Hi

Pieds with low white can produce high babies and the other way around, its not like line breeding.

It is completely random as nzyme has said. if you have a high white pied that doesn't mean you will produce high white babies

Pieds ARE awesome...as each one is unique! As jhbhc said...the amount of white is no indication of what the offspring would look like! Some breeders in RSA are making some awesome Pied combos!

Agreed one of my favorite morphs. I've wanted a pied since I saw a photo in a ball python book around 2002 / 2003. I hope to breed these guys in the future. I have 3 Het Females that I'm growing.
Here's a pic of my male. The pic unfortunately doesn't capture his colour. He's very orange, almost a fire colour in real life.

Now that's a nice snake. I know the photo's sometimes don't do any justice on the actual coloration...............

Awesome morph. Got some favorite pied combos out there as well. Was finally able to add pied to my collection this year thanks to JP from Reptiles Unlimited.
