My Iguana

Hi Peeps... OK well I thought after recently getting my first Iguana, i thought it would be a good time to build my first cage too... Pictures, designs and cutting lists follow.... Hope all you guys enjoy the Ig and the cage....

The following were needed in the build of the cage:

Wood - Pine
A good drill and screwdriver
Yacht Piant - Although I didnt use it
Woodoc Varnish and wood treatment
Electric Sanding machine
JigSaw
2 X Basking Lights (Normal and Red)
1 x Uv light for Iguana 5.0

OK well thats it from me... I hope that u guys enjoy the pics and the designs... Just wanna say tks to Sean for all his help in the planning of the cage and for all the advice in this regard... Tks :D

Cage designs look really nice. I am sure this proves how easy it is to build your own cages.

Yea ill Make some cage designs and instructions no prob, pm me any dimentions you guys want, wood thickness (and type, eg melamine, pine etc) when i have some spare time ill make similar designs to the previous

Hi Alpaulo & Sean!

Thanks for sharing the design etc. I was wondering if you could tell us what the setup cost all in all, and then also what you used for the front (I assume 2 sliding glass panes?).

Reason I'm asking is that I'm in the process of planning and designing an enclosure for my Green Basilisk and it would be nice to know more or less what I'm in for ;)

Hi Pix,
The approximate cost involved for the complete cage was about R700 which included lighting etc etc... The lampine wood for the cage was about R230, cut and edged. Then lights approx R400 with fittings etc etc...then extra cash for wiring, switch boxes, air vents and finally varnish...Hope that helps...let us know how it goes :D
