I had a big problem getting my hands on some cash. The $#@ banks close at 11am don't they
And the ATMs have a daily limit of R1000 don't they.
And most of the exhibitors don't have those nice little machines that take credit cards do they
Note to self - take more ready cash to next expo. Fortunately there are ways and means of laying your hands on cash if you are at a casino and determined enough.
My poor sister and Telgalad had a bit of a wait though while I was procuring the dough. Got me a trio of Asian spitters for R1300 a piece. They are gorgeous.
There was a lot of the usual stuff. I saw the red tegu. It was going for R7000. Was the only one though. There was a single white lipped python for R3900. The SA Reptiles stand had quite a few interesting baby venomous. Some baby red spitters for R2000 each, a few Levantine ( i think that's it) vipers and some nice ammodytes babies from Italy. Some albino monocled cobra babies for R3000 each. There were also urocoans and some other kind of rattler I don't remember - quite an unusual one. Not a lot of morelia. The fancy ball python morphs were there. I love the ones with lots of gold in them (forget what they are called). Chantel couldn't make it but I chatted to Gavin a bit which was nice.
There were some blood pythons - Borneo short tailed pair for R5000 (still juveniles) and some of the Brongersmai variety (orangish colouring). There was a Kayuadi (?spelling) dwarf retic for around R6500. Some baby spotted pythons and Children's pythons looked interesting for R1200 each. The East Rand Herp Society had a nice stand with some puffies, a green mamba, a rinkhals, a black mamba, a twig snake and a snouted cobra on display. I thought it was cool to see some of our indigenous snakes there.
There were a few exhibitors missing that were at the earlier expo this month. All in all a good day.
