Re: Retic Peeeeee!

lol! Many pythons (you do not want to be on the wrong end of one of the local rock pythons!!!) will pee and poo in self defence but retics are famous for it - amongst retic keepers anyway! My one bali yellowhead who has never been tame and probably never will be, because he has had a bad attitude si...

Re: Updated Pics

She's beautiful... an looks like she's got character too! Love the pic where she is lifting her head up to see what you are doing. In my experience they are quite inquisitive snakes when they are not trying to bite you - a stage some of them go through when younger. I just love carpet pythons.

Re: Death of the hobby part 2

Really really great news!Glad those bills were stymied. It makes me mad when people think that only scientists have a right to study reptiles and laypeople cant have access to them because our interest is somehow of less value to society. Look at how NASA is using private amateur astronomers in vari...

Re: Finally some baby Boas!

Those keepers of yours are really stunning BB congrats on the whole brood! I bred RTBs for the first time this year so I am also very lucky. They were a bit of a surprise as I had almost given up trying to breed. Next thing I knew there were 22 of the little sweeties on the floor of the cage. No slu...

Re: After 158 days she dropped.

Congrats Whitelipp! They are cool babies. As a matter of interest how exactly did you force feed her? Whitelips are so small but venomous it must have been tricky. Did you start her on pinkie heads? Did you use a pinky pump? Do tell

Re: My scrubbys

I am working on a plan for a nice big tank for them. A tall one so that they can hang around all day from a branch or rope if they want so thanks for that information carpetpythons. As usual time is my biggest enemy. Maybe in the wild they just haven't had the chance to decide whether or not they li...

Re: Penance

Thanks guys for the kind comments. It's a weird feeling wondering if you are going to see the next day. As I waited at the side of the road for my mother to fetch me from my house to go to the hospital it was terrifyingly peaceful as I knew that for the next few hours and perhaps for the rest of my ...

Re: SPCA Show

You have got to be kidding right? Is this the same organisation that constantly hounds the owners of reptile pet shops and holds publicly expressed opinion that no-one should be allowed to keep reptiles as pets? http://www.nspca.co.za/page.aspx?Id=141&CateId=20&Category=Wildlife&SubCateI...

My scrubbys

I was also asked to post recent pics of these. Sometimes I think I am too obliging as it is really time consuming posting pics. Enjoy. She is in the blue and not too happy with me. It is not easy to photograph a slender snake over two metres so I tried to persuade her to stay in the tub. http://i114...

My Blackheaded Python

I was asked to post some recent pics of this guy. I call him Quill because he looks like he's been dipped in the inkpot. I took these today As you can see he has been rubbing his nose on the glass http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n269/Boudicca_2006/Quill1IMGP1822-1.jpg He is a very inquisitive boy...

Cascabel babies

My story with my Crotalus durissus is not yet over for the year as I discovered this today at around 5pm. The pics were taken through the glass by the way and so are not as clear as they could have been. These are not the snakes that gave me my brush with death last Friday night. They are my other p...

Re: Stiletto Snake Bite -Atractaspis bibroni

Some people did read the word 'anesthetized' in the abstract the first time and some people's opinion remains the same. Other people should sue the pants off the doctor that did those fasciotomies. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. They are no excuse for poor judgment and blind ignoran...
