Python natalensis at Kruger

Python natalensis at Kruger

Postby Jen » Tue Jan 26, 2010 9:28 pm

Hi everyone
I just thought I'd share a sighting that I particularly enjoyed at my last trip to Kruger. We were staying at Letaba camp at took a night walk around the camp to see what we could see.
We came across the bushbabies and they were going beserk:

Then I noticed what was causing their stress:

Apparently, they're frequent visitors to Letaba because of the resident bushbuck. The rangers arrived very quickly and removed it before it had a chance for a meal!

Are they using a snare to catch that snake?
Rather crude IMO.

I think they did - it was pretty tricky to see as it was pitch dark. I only saw details of the capture later on my pics. They were pretty scared of it, to be honest.

That's a shame people at such places should be educated and shown how to capture snakes like these.
thanks for the photos too!

Nice pics

I went to Letaba last year with my old man, we stayed in the safari tents. We also saw these bushbabies, and damn they made a racket.... did not see an afroc at that time.

However, a few years back, again with my old man, we came across an afroc swallowing a baby impala

Afroc sightings are not too common there.

Oh yah, BTW, I'll be back in Kruger this time tomorrow, staying at Crocodile Bridge for a long weekend, can't wait.....

Well at least they didn't kill it as in the previous picture with that huge snake.
And that is a very nice sighting bundu boy.
