ID please

ID please

Can somebody ID this snake. Caught in Swellendam. Puffs like chameleon when agitated

I suspect it may be a cape reed snake

The pattern just screams juvenile mole snake, but the head puts me off a bit.

But the puffing just pushes me toward mole snake too. Google some pics and compare.

My knee-jerk reaction to seeing that is 'baby mole snake'... and the attitude sounds about right too...

Yes. After some googling i agree with juvenile mole snake. Have never seen a juvenile. Only the 2m ones on my dads smallholding.
