Found this one in the thatch last night.
Think it is a Common Brown Water Snake but would like a second opinion please.

Not a Brown Water Snake it's a Marbled Tree Snake - Dipsadoboa aulica.

Very cool.

No that's not a brown water snake, but I think it's rather a Marbled Tree Snake. It is strange to see one without any pattern as they usually have a bit of dorsal pattern. Or maybe I am completely missing the plot, haha.

A very cool find.

Thanks guys.
I looked at the tree snake but didn't think that it would differ from its normal patterns THAT much!
But i agree and can now add another species to my life list!

Thanks

A very special find and not an unusual colour for the species at all.

Hoedspruit has both unmarked and beautifully (lots of white) marbled's. They are very common in certain areas all over that area right into the Kruger National Park. They are very easy to find once you know what they like and can literally pinpoint their location to within 100 meters! the same applies to Shield Nosed snakes from up there.
