I heard a report of a poacher being pursued recently. He hid in the reeds by a river until there were enough witnesses and he knew they would not shoot him. He then laughed and did a slow backstoke as he crossed the river knowing they could not get a vehicle around in time. 10 metres from the other side there was a loud splash and a crocodile took him. He was never seen again. Nobody had a permit to shoot the crocodile either and they were worried they might shoot the poacher.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
