Beardy eyelid problem.

Postby Grootseun » Tue Nov 12, 2013 7:47 pm

Hi guys.

This is not the ideal section to be posting in just after joining the forum, but i need something to chew on while i look for a vet in the Rustenburg area.

I adopted this female, have her for about a week now.
I noticed today her one eye lid has a problem.
Does anyone know what is causing this?

Jees, i struggle to attach images

Any chance you are using a new UV light that has not been tested before?

A while ago a friend of mine found a croc (I think) that mad been caught in a fire that had melted its eyelids together. He very carefully slit the eyelids in two and is the croc opened its eyes it started thrashing about  Did that happen after or before you got the beardy?
Thanks
Nic

Thanks for the replies.

I dont think its a burn as the previous owner never had any form of heat in the cage, neither a uvb. Diet consisted of pellets and only once a week did she get veggies. No calsium supplements what so ever.
The worst is that she was housed with a male, so they bred, but no eggs were incubated.

The living conditions changed for the better about 3 weeks ago.
She is still housed with the male, I will how ever seperate them end of the week.
Hoping that once seperated she will relax some what and eat better.

Atleast she gets to come out of her cage on a daily basis now for atleast 2 hours in the garden.

I'm thinking maby the male scrached her eye.
Im sure her health will emprove once seperated.

With perioccular lesions in Beardies, consider fungal or yeast infections. This is especially true if the perioccular sinusses are involved. Your vet should be able to assist in this matter.
