A sad day.

At one stage or the other, we all deal with a death. It is never nice losing a pet and thus, you can share your loss with the rest of us and share your memories so that they will be remembered.

A sad day.

It is a sad day indeed. We have 3 beardies. Jessie, Vaatjie and Gwen. Vaatjie died today. For some extra uv we take them outside on a regular basis. While they were exploring the garden Vaatjie came across a little frog. The moment the little frog moved Vaatjie took a bite at it. He shook it around for about 3 seconds and the let it go. About 5 seconds later he had foam comming from his mouth and started fitting about 45 seconds later. My wife rushed him to the VET (onderstepoort). They gave him an injection and some activated charcoal and asked her to go and fetch the frog. When she went back to the VET they told her that Vaatjie died. :smt022

Ai. We are regulars at the VET by now. Jessie had some growth behind her eye. After 2 weeks of meds and eye drops they adviced that they eye needs to be removed. So poor old Jessie's got one big blindspot. Then about a month later while my wife was feeding her she started to fit, so back to the VET. She was admited with mid ear infection or something. She was discharged 2 days later.

Lets just say that we have some of the most expensive yet most spescial bearded dragons in pretoria.

RIP Vaatjie. You will be missed!!

I moved this to the RIP section.

I am really sorry to hear this, it is very strange, do you by any chance have a picture of the frog?

Hanno it could have been a red banded rubber frog or one of the toads. These could kill a lizard rather quickly.

Shame Hanno, can just imagine how bad that must feel. I have only had my beardies for about 4 months, but I love them to death, can imagine how it must feel having them a long time.
