Only 6 in SA?

Postby JamesG » Wed Feb 20, 2013 2:23 pm

I was in a local pet shop, and noticed they were selling a Vipera Raddei, it then stated that there are only 6 in SA... Does anybody know of this is true?

I have got one and know of a few others that also do... so I doubt it.
You know, you can touch a stick of dynamite, but if you touch a venomous snake it’ll turn around and bite you and kill you so fast it’s not even funny.

I believe Gavin Carpenter, also from Kzn, has bred them too.

I dont believe thats a bad estimation. Max 10.
These have not been bred regularly no and neither have they been bred in numbers.

Lets see some more name dropping on this thread. The egos are running high and that turns me on.
If nobody knows for sure then resort to name dropping. It always works.

Also, good luck with finding a female.

There are definitely more than 10 in the Country, considering the fact that they have been bred by at least 2 different breeders for at least 3 seasons.
Oh, and I don't need to resort to name dropping, I merely state the true and honest facts.

TrevorH, I don't what's rubbing you up the wrong way regarding "name dropping" If someone has bred them locally then what's the big deal for mentioning the breeder's name?? It's not like we would get sales commission or anything but facts are facts and no one said they are in abundance.

I googled vipera raddei and stumbled upon, http://www.venomland.net/t402-vipera-raddei-photos where a thread discusses a gent getting CB07 specimens from Gavin Carpenter, hence my assumption that he'd bred these.
