Took some pics of my mates adult male Moorish Viper - Daboia mauritanica. He's about 1.5m long. A bit hard to capture his colours at night, but I did my best haha.

They have a particularly nasty venom. Be alert around these snakes.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Years back I kept a trio of these,2 males which looked similar to your pic,and the female was different. She was brick red,losing most of the dorsal zigzag pattern. Fortunately they were very calm snakes,and a pleasure to handle,but as bv mentions,the venom is believed to be very toxic. What is also interesting about them is,they lay eggs!!
