uv / black light

Hi All,

Just out of curiosity does anyone know where i can get a uv light bulb, not too worried if its the tube or compact type. there are a few companies on the inter webs but just want to see if anyone has had any experience with buying these before.

There's a difference between a black light and a uv light, a black light is a dark almost black globe where as a u.v light is see through, a u.v light will kill a animal where as a black light won't
Black lights you can pick up at most large hardware stores where U.v lights is used in the pet and cosmetic industry.

Ah ok now i am slightly confused I though a black light was a type of UV light? So which light is required to view fluorescence? I am building a box for a friend who collects rocks/ minerals so just want to make sure i get the right light.

UV makes minerals fluoresce.

For his purpose I suggest getting a globe instead of a compact light for better effect.

There are actually a bunch on minerals which all fluoresce with different colours so could make an awesome display.
