Here is the place to discuss anything not related to reptiles and does not fall into any other catagories.

Hey,
I am going to the eastern cape in July. My question is, how long should my snake hook or tongs be to safely be around and handle the snakes of the eastern cape.
I was thinking 40 inches. Would you think that is that enough, too long? What would you recommend?
Thank you.

That should be fine if you have the skills.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.
