I have been keeping these amazing snakes for over a year now and they are doing just great !!!
I have them in a planted cage with UVB and a heating pad under one of the 3 water bowls to get the humidity up...
Just a interesting observation:At first they had plastic plants in the cage and I realized that they "chilled" on the ground a lot,but after going all natural they started to "chill" in/on the plants...
They are still eating geckos only and dont want anything to do with even a dead gecko or scented pink...They are extremely fussy feeders in my opinion !
Here are some pics of mine...

Very nice! I really like these snakes, a species I definitely want to keep in the future. I hear people class them as mildly venomous, have you experienced a bite yet, if so what are the simptoms like?

Thanks man...
Jip...They are indeed mildly venomous Wolf777...I have never been bit but symptoms should include swelling(might be bad in some cases) a bit of pain and if you are soooooo unlucky to have a bad reaction, anaphylactic shock may set in...?
They have big fags for their size esp. as they are back-fanged !

Very cool photo's man!

Awesome looking snakes, question where these imports or locally bred?

what gecko species are you feeding them on?

Thanks dude !
They where def. not locally bred and I am almost 100% sure that they where smuggled into SA by some random guy,but I might be wrong ?...
I think they are L.capensis or some other Lygodactylus sp. that they are feeding on...

Thought they'd be Lygodactylus , you need to be in KZN with those snakes so many Hemi's around!

I only noticed now check the size of the teeth!

Thanks Silvrav...
They are wow snakes to look at and they are really interesting...They have a unusual way of smelling...They dont just flick their tong about, they actually point it towards the object they want to smell or are interested in !
I'll try to get some video of this so you guy's can see...

Would their venom be similar in level of toxicity to say Psammophis sp. her in SA or more toxic i.e is it just painful with swelling or bleeding, or do you need to go to hospital?

I highly doubt that hospital would be in order but the bite should be worse than that of Psammophis...But then again not to much is actually known about their venom...?

A big Psammophis mossambicus bite could be dangerous so I wouldn't under estimate these, and you can call me a chicken but I don't under estimate any snake especially mildly venomous as most of the species' venom hasn't really been studied yet. Don't want to become the first statistic lol.

Wolf, someone has to be...be brave man! :)

But agree, respect the snake, and he/she will respect you.
