My female boa out and about

My female boa out and about

Postby jhbhc » Sat Jun 04, 2011 5:40 pm

Hey there, got my female boa out of her tank for cleaning and thought I would snap a few pics.
She's about 7 months old now and has grown a lot. I feed her every other week and she is strong and very healthy.
Her colours have darkened up a bit. Hope you guys enjoy the pics and let me know what you think.
Thanks for looking

Strange thing is, I don't feed her often. She eats twice a month and one prey item at a feeding. She's still growing like a weed. Not sure if its maybe genetics? I did read an article about boas that are powerfed and snakes that have been slow grown, according to that article the biggest boas are the ones that have taken many years to achieve their size rather than powerfed snakes that top out quickly and have health related issues. Let me know what your opinions are?

she is gorgeous! I also am very wary of feeding too much. I feed juveniles every week but the bigger boas two or three times a month depending on shedding times and the seasons. I would much rather have a healthy snake for thirty years than a super sized one for five years.
